Sachin Tendulkar: one man with great number of fans

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar:

Heartiest congratulations to you for completing 20 years of Cricket for India today (15th Nov 2009). I won’t say much about you, for who am I to comment on one of the greatest possession of India?Today, I was going through few of the articles in news paper, I got goose-bumps and my eyes got moist after reading the ovations from the people various parts of the world inclusing Pakistan, our arch rival country. Here are few of the statements I came across in the articles and which may still fall short to felicitate Sachin:

1. God has made him for cricket. - MS Dhoni

2. After achieving so much he is so humble. The way he respects elders, the way he interacts with young players is quite amazing. I don’t think anyone can beat the records created by him.- Virender Sehwag

3. The amount of runs he has scored, the number of centuries and half-centuries he has in both forms of the game arguably makes him the greatest player in the history of the game.- Richard Hadlee

4. I hope he keeps on firing. If he fires in the 2011 World Cup and leaves an impact in the team then India could have a big time- Sourav Ganguly

5. Honestly, in India it is not easy to be Sachin Tendulkar. The kind of fan following he has is mind-boggling. It's a tribute to the man that he retains the quality after 20 years. Phenomenal achievement by a phenomenal person - that is what Sachin is.- Rahul Dravid

6. Who are we mortals to give him a message on this occasion? Instead he should be guiding us about how to play well, cope with pressure, and scale the heights that he has attained.- Mohammad Yousuf

7. I admire Sachin as a person too. He is so polite; his mannerisms are heart-touching. He is a living legend and a wonderful role model for world cricket.- Sir Vivian Richards

8. I feel honoured to have played with him. I don’t think anyone can score 30,000 international runs or even think of playing 20 years. It is just next to impossible.- Harbhajan Singh

9. He is humble, down to earth, and success has not gone to his head. He has always been that way.- Muralitharan

10. I wasn't one of those international bowlers who had to worry about how to bowl to Sachin! It is not easy to carry the aspirations of one billion people but Sachin has done that with grace.- Anil Kumble

11. As a kid I enjoyed watching Sachin's feats on television and he was one of the reasons why I fell in love with the game- Shahid Afridi

Need I say something more apart from these? No doubt, Sachin makes me even more proud as an Indian.....
